Goldwater Scholarship:

“The Goldwater Scholarship Program, one of the oldest and most prestigious national scholarships in the natural sciences, engineering and mathematics in the United States, seeks to identify and support college sophomores and juniors who show exceptional promise of becoming this Nation’s next generation of research leaders in these fields.” Recipients of the Goldwater Scholarship receive $7,500 a year for the remainder of their undergraduate career. To be eligible, you must be a full time sophomore or junior and at accredited 2-year or 4-year institution, intend to pursue a career in research in a STEM field, maintain a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale, and be a U.S. citizen. If you are a permanent resident, you can apply if you submit a letter of intent to become a U.S. citizen. You must first submit nomination materials to your home institution. They will then pick the top 4 candidates and submit these applications to the Goldwater Foundation. Application materials include: Student questionnaire, Research Essay, three letters of recommendation, official transcript, institutional nomination form, and, when applicable, a copy of the student’s permanent residence card.
