Society of Undergraduate Mathematics Students
The Department of Mathematics offers five majors:
Pure Mathematics
The pure mathematics major is the traditional math major. It focuses on logic, reasoning, and problem solving, specifically in the context of logic-based proofs. An emphasis is put on preparing students or for careers requiring a mathematical background. For more information: https://math.fsu.edu/Undergraduate/puremathmajor.math
Applied and Computational Mathematics
This major focuses on the applications of mathematics with regard to science, engineering, and computational work. Students in this major take some pure math courses, as well as courses in fields such as differential equations and numerical analysis. for more information: https://math.fsu.edu/Undergraduate/applmathmajor.math
Biomathematics
This is an interdisciplinary major for math students who also have an interest in biology. It includes applied math courses, biomath-specific courses, and biology courses. It can be tailored to pre-med students. For more information:

Actuarial Science
This major is intended to give students a rigorous mathematical background, that ca be applied to many careers, but specifically, those of an actuary. Students who graduate from this major should be prepared for a career as an actuary. For more information: https://www.math.fsu.edu/~paris/actscimajor.math
FSU Teach - Math
This major is intended for students who want to become a math teacher, including a secondary major in education. It includes courses from all majors above, and culminates with a internship at a local high school. For more information: https://math.fsu.edu/Undergraduate/fsuteachmathmajor.math
